RUNNING. SHE WAS ALWAYS RUNNING LATELY. If she wasn’t also always in danger, Lara might have stopped to consider committing to the triathlon, But ever since Trinity had entered her life, COMMITMENT had been a hard thing to keep. By the end of it all, she wondered if she’d have any friends left.
Oh, well. No time to ponder that while evading certain danger.
She ducked between tall bodies, jumping into a busy restaurant before she could think otherwise. Scurrying into the bathroom she went, slamming the door locked behind her. Painful seconds passed. When all was silent, save for the cling-clang of cutlery and the hustle and bustle of dinner service, she turned to fall back in RELIEF, and –– of course! –– startled.
“ Er… sorry, I didn’t… think someone was in here. ” Why on Earth would she? It was only a bleeding bathroom! Job well done, Croft. She hoped she didn’t frighten the woman too badly. “ My –– er… ex-boyfriend is out there. He’s very… keen on making scenes. ”
Lying was oh-so-clearly not her forté.
